The Neighborhood
 
Location
The neighborhood of Marine Park is primarily residential, with one-family homes on tree-lined streets. Small shops and restaurants can be found along Quentin Road and Nostrand Avenue.

Marine Park Luxury Rentals are situated along Fillmore Avenue, Stuart Street, Burnett Street, Madison Place, and Avenue R. There are no alternate parking restrictions on most residential streets, making parking fairly easy. (Click here for map and directions.)

Public Transportation
Buses
 
The following bus lines serve the neighborhood:
B100 (Fillmore Avenue)
B2 (Avenue R)
B31 (Gerritsen Avenue)
B44 (Nostrand Avenue)
BM4 express to Manhattan; boards on Gerritsen Avenue at Fillmore Avenue and at Avenue R. Last stop on Manhattan is 57th Street and Second Avenue.

Subways 

Local buses go directly to train stations. The bus rides to both stations below take about 10-15 minutes.

Station: Kings Highway (East 16th Street and Kings Highway/Quentin Road), B or Q train.
Bus to train: B100 or B31.

Station: Flatbush Avenue (Flatbush and Nostrand avenues), 2 and 5 trains
Bus to train: B44

The Park
Marine Park, the largest open space in Brooklyn (over 700 acres), includes the Gerritsen Creek salt marsh preserve and Nature Center and Marine Park Golf Course (18 holes). Park activities include tennis, bocce, football, baseball, basketball, handball, bicycling, cricket, soccer, volleyball, bird watching, rollerblading, kayaking, walking, and running.

The Nature Center and entrance to the salt marsh preserve are located on Avenue U and  East 33rd Street, opposite the park's main parking lot. The center is open all year and features exhibits related to the habitat and ecology of the marsh. In addition, classes are offered in such activities as drawing and yoga, among others. Urban Park Rangers lead nature and birding walks on the marsh trails. The main trail is a one-mile loop and offers scenic views. All activities are free and open to the public.

The main part of the park is bordered by Fillmore Avenue on the north, Avenue U on the south, East 32nd and East 33rd streets on the east, and Stuart Street on the west. The Nature Center and salt marsh entrance are on the south side of Avenue U. The golf course entrance is on Flatbush Avenue between the Belt Parkway and Avenue U.

 Shopping

Shops and restaurants can be found along Quentin Road and Nostrand Avenue, walking distance from Marine Park Luxury Rentals.  Two local markets -- Key Food on Gerritsen Avenue and Met Food on Quentin Road -- deliver groceries.

Malls

Kings Plaza (Flatbush Avenue and Avenue U) -- including Macy's, The Gap, and Sears -- is the largest mall in Brooklyn.

Gateway Plaza (Erskine Avenue exit, Belt Parkway). -- including Target; Bed, Bath and Beyond; and Home Depot.

Triangle Junction (Nostrand Avenue and Avenue H) -- including Target and Circuit City, with more stores to open in 2008-09.

UA Sheepshead Bay (14-theater multiplex cinema, including Brooklyn's only IMAX)
Aviator Sports, featuring a 35-foot climbing wall and year-round indoor ice skating (at Floyd Bennett Field)
Library
The Gerritsen Beach library (Gerritsen Avenue between Gotham Avenue and Bartlett Place) is 10,000 square feet and features a two-story-high window overlooking Shell Bank Creek. 
Senior Center
A state-of-the-art facility for seniors is under construction in the park at Fillmore Avenue and Madison Place, just across from the MPLR apartment complex.
Hospitals
Kings Highway Hospital/Beth Israel Medical Center and Community Hospital are both a short distance from the Marine Park Luxury Rentals complex.
Airport
Kennedy International Airport is a brief drive (east) from Marine Park.

These Marine Park Luxury Rental units on the north side of Fillmore Avenue (between Burnett Street and Madison Place) are directly across the street from the main entrance to the park.
Marine Park bicycle and walking paths
There is no car traffic in Marine Park. There are two wide parallel paths (approx. 1 mile) around the oval -- separated by a ring of trees and lampposts -- one for walkers and runners and  another for bicyclists and rollerbladers.
 Marine Park Salt Marsh Nature Center (rear view).  The Center features exhibits and activities year-round.
